March is Women's History Month

The 11th Annual Women's History Month Program will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at the Mineral Building at the Plumas County Fairgrounds. Seating for the catered luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. with the program at noon. Will Lombardi of Quincy will make a presentation on Ina Coolbrith, California's Poet Laureate, and an early resident of Plumas County. Ina came through Beckwourth Pass in September 1852 with her family's wagon train. In later years a mountain just to the south of the pass was named Mt. Ina Coolbrith in her honor. Ms. Coolbrith was a contemporary and acquaintance of such literary notables as Mark Twain, Bret Harte, Gertrude Atherton, Joaquin Miller, Jack London, and Edward Markham.

The luncheon will be catered by Caron Chance of Back Door Catering. Tickets for the event are $17 and include a full lunch, refreshments and the program. Seats are limited strictly to 60 this year, so be sure to call now to confirm your seat. Payment is required at the time of your reservation, and cannot be refunded after March 18.
